04/08/09 Quorn Residents Make Decent Homes Choice

Over 80 residents turned out at Quorn Village Hall on 4th August to see the choices available to them as part of Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing’s planned ‘Decent Homes’ work in their area.

The 'Decent Homes Choices Day' event took place on Tuesday, 4 August, from 2pm until 7pm, at The Quorn Village Hall. Tenants had the chance to speak to staff, (test or check out) the products on display and select which ones they preferred.

Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing and decent homes contractor Frank Haslam Milan (FHM) invited over 100 residents from the Quorn area, to see the choices available as part of planned 'Decent Homes' work in their area. On the day, over 200 people attended the event, 82 of them residents who brought along family and friends to help them make their choice of style and colour for their new kitchens. Some residents went away after making their choices only to return later having changed their mind.

The residents were able to meet Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing’s and FHM’s Decent Homes Delivery teams who were there to introduce themselves and answer any questions that they had.

Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing’s Director of Investment, Repairs and Regeneration, Steve Wilson, said: "We have already made significant improvements to people’s homes and services in Charnwood and we pride ourselves in offering residents many choices throughout our improvement programmes”.
"These local events give residents a chance to meet the improvement teams first hand and see and feel the quality of the fixtures and fittings on offer before the improvement work starts in their home."

Staff from Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing and FHM were kept busy throughout the day helping residents mix and match the kitchen units, worktops, tiles and floor coverings.

Residents were also treated to free energy saving light bulbs and e-on PowerDown energy saving plugs for computers, both of which are designed to reduce energy consumption and help them save on energy bills.

In all it was a thoroughly enjoyable day for everyone involved.
