Charnwood ALMO

PRESS RELEASE

In our drive to constantly improve access to our services, CNH is pleased to announce that we have added BrowseAloud to our website; a unique text-to-speech solution from Texthelp Systems designed to increase website accessibility for those who find reading text online difficult.

BrowseAloud speaks website content aloud in a high quality voice, making websites more accessible to those with learning difficulties, dyslexia, mild visual impairments or where English is a second language. The solution is unique in its delivery, in that all the technology is provided free to the website visitor, with the cost covered by the website owner.

Tim Harris, CNH’s Interim Chief Executive said: “We are committed to making sure that everyone has equal access to our services. We hope that people who may have had difficulties using our website will now find that BrowseAloud makes a big difference".

Tim Harris continued: “We are delighted to have joined the growing number of organisations who are committed to making online accessibility a reality with BrowseAloud”.

BrowseAloud is provided free of charge to anyone who downloads the software. Users can choose to listen to a male or female voice. They can also listen to highlighted passages of text or whole pages being read aloud. Online visitors need only download the application once and then all websites on the Internet that are BrowseAloud-enabled can be read aloud.
