PRESS RELEASE
Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing (CNH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Harris as interim Chief Executive of the organisation.
Tim joined CNH on Tuesday 27 October bringing with him a wealth of experience in the housing sector. Tim has successfully led Berneslai Homes, South Tyneside Homes and Homes in Havering through Audit Commission inspections, having achieved two star ratings and unlocked over £425m of government funding in the process. He also helped Nottingham City Homes prepare for inspection-achieving two stars in December 2008 releasing decent homes funding of £165m.
Tim will lead the organisation and help it prepare for the Audit Commission inspection in February 2010. Speaking of his appointment, Tim said: "I am delighted to be part of an organisation that has worked so hard to improve its services to residents. I am particularly looking forward to meeting residents and listening to their views and hopes for council housing in the borough."
Cllr John Bush, Charnwood Borough Council’s Lead Member for Housing, said "I welcome this appointment and look forward to working with Mr Harris. His considerable experience will aid CNH to achieve the two star rating required to unlock the funding needed to bring all of our Council Housing up to a decent standard."
New Chair of the Board, Roger Merchant, said: "I am extremely pleased that Tim has agreed to join CNH as interim Chief Executive. Tim has a proven track record of leading ALMOs through successful inspections and I am sure his experience and skills will prove invaluable in helping the organisation continue to improve homes and services for residents."
Tim’s arrival comes at a time of considerable change, with the CNH Board electing Roger Merchant as its new Chair earlier this month. Zoe Wortley, the former chair has stepped down due to a significant promotion at work and a new baby on the way. Speaking of her departure, Zoe said: “I am very sorry to leave CNH. I am hopeful that CNH will successfully move forward and achieve a two star rating in the February Inspection, and will do all I can over the next few months to ensure that the organisation is best placed to achieve its objectives.” Zoe will remain on the CNH Board in a co-optee capacity until 31 December 2009.
Roger Merchant added: “Zoe will be missed by CNH. Her hard work and dedication has been truly exceptional. We would like to thank Zoe for her valued contribution and wish her well for the future.”
