Charnwood ALMO

Charnwood’s Decent Homes partner, construction company Frank Haslam Milan (FHM), has scooped a gold Considerate Constructors Award for its work to bring more than 200 Council-owned houses up to standard in partnership with Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing Ltd and Charnwood Borough Council. The work to replace kitchens and bathrooms took place whilst the residents, many of whom are elderly, remained in their homes.

The success contributes to another record haul for their parent company Keepmoat, who this year won 48 awards in total.

Judges who visited the site praised project manager Pete Watson’s team’s efforts to reduce noise, disturbance and work with vulnerable and disabled residents during improvements.

Of FHM’s work, judges said: “Pete is professional and dedicated to the project and continually seeks improvements. We have no doubt that this project will be a success to all the constructors involved.”

The awards follow a series of thorough inspections of all successful sites by judges from the Considerate Constructors Scheme, who looked for evidence of strong partnership working with local communities, tenants and a positive approach to the environment. They were amongst eight picked up by FHM, which included two gold, one silver, and five bronze.

This year, around 550 awards were presented to sites selected from over 7,000 eligible projects. The news continues Keepmoat’s long standing successful links with the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Last year, Keepmoat was the first organisation to have registered more than 1,000 sites with the project since it was established in 1997.

Keepmoat Director of Regeneration Allen Hickling said: “These awards recognise that it is not just about what we are doing as a company, but the way we are delivering and working with local communities. The ethos of the Considerate Constructors Scheme is something that Keepmoat and its companies strongly support.”

Steve Wilson, Director of Investment, Repairs and Regeneration at Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing, said: “We set extremely high standards for our contractors and we are delighted with FHM's success at this awards ceremony. It is pleasing that their commitment to minimising disruption and helping tenants has been recognised. The Partnership is going from strength to strength and this award clearly demonstrates the quality of service being delivered by FHM. I'm very proud of the CNH Investment Team and the excellent relationship we have with our Decent Homes Partner".
