Hug Your Home Zone

CNH and Charnwood Borough Council are working with energy provider, E-ON on an exciting new energy efficiency initiative in the Shelthorpe area.

CESP (Community Energy Saving Programme) is a government programme which encourages gas and electricity suppliers to work with social housing providers in order to deliver energy saving measures to low income areas of the UK.

We are working with E-ON on the CESP project to provide energy saving measures such as wall insulation, improved heating systems and economy Bristan showers to eligible homes in Shelthorpe (unfortunately not all properties will be eligible). E-ON will be providing up to 100% of the project’s funding – there will be no cost for tenants and their homes will be more energy efficient which should save them money on fuel bills.

Around a third of your home’s heat is lost through uninsulated walls. Fitting external wall insulation will help residents save money on their energy bills, as well as keeping them warmer and more comfortable.

Installing loft insulation is one of the quickest ways to make a home more energy efficient. Around a quarter of your heat could be escaping through uninsulated loft space, so this will make a real difference.

To find out more about this project, to be known as the ‘Hug Your Home Zone’ project, please come along to an open day on Tuesday 28 February 2012 at the Good Shepherd Church Rooms, Park Road, Shelthorpe, Loughborough, LE11 2HJ, on Tuesday 28 February, from 1pm till 6pm.

Work on properties is scheduled to begin on 5 March and will last for five months.

What measures will be installed?

Depending on what type of walls your property has (cavity or solid brick), you will have either External Wall Insulation or Cavity Wall Insulation.

The exterior finish to EWI will be a half brick render.

In addition, depending on the age of your boiler, you could also receive an upgrade to a new central heating system as well as loft insulation.

What if my property is not eligible?

Due to the Government’s definition of eligible and non-eligible properties, you may find that your property is not part of the CESP programme.

If this is the case, you can still get in touch with us as there are other funding streams and grants available for energy efficiency measures and we may be able to help you access the funding.
